Saint Evdokimos the ‘Newly-Revealed’

4 November 2011

When in the year 1840 the Fathers of Monastery wanted to repair their cemetery, they discovered the relics of a saint entirely uncorrupted and exuding an indescribably sweet aroma, as the bones and skull continue to do to this day. Since this unknown saint by his whole way of life and his ascetic warfare had been pleasing to God and had showed himself truly to be a well-tried vessel of divine grace, they gave him the name of ‘Evdokimos’ (Well-tried). His feast day is observed on 5 October14.
