Blessing of the Water Service Conducted at Metamorphosis Greek Orthodox Day School in Toronto

6 September 2018

On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, the Metamorphosis Greek Orthodox Day School welcomed back students and their families for the new school year. Both new and old students were greeted to the newly-expanded building premises, now that the new wing has been completed. The new building is incredible, and built according to the most modern standards. The number of students has again increased this year, with three hundred students enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year. This is the surest sign that parents and guardians are supporting and investing in Greek Orthodox education.

The year began with the traditional Blessing of the Water service (Aghiasmos) conducted by Fr. Ignatios Delis. The school gymnasium was filled to capacity with students, parents, and teachers. Everyone present participated in the service, praying and piously chanting the hymns. After the service, Fr. Ignatios conveyed the heartfelt best wishes and blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios, who was unable to be present at the service. Fr. Ignatios wished everyone a good and blessed school year, filled with health, joy and progress in their studies. Everyone approached to venerate the Holy Cross and receive a blessing.

The Metamorphosis Greek Orthodox Day School is on par with the best schools in Ontario. The well-trained teaching staff, the excellent school buildings, the technological infrastructure, the science laboratory, the educational programs, the secure environment, along with the teaching of the Greek language, Greek traditions, and especially the Orthodox Christian faith make this school truly one of a kind. These are the essential elements which help ensure that our children will have a successful and bright future.
