The person we give our heart to may hurt us or abandon us. The evil spirits are forever suggesting wicked thoughts that undermine our loving disposition and torment us. Divine love is limitless and embraces everything, whereas we attach ourselves to people and inanimate objects. Our heart’s imprisoned by the things of the world, and if they engulf us, it mourns and suffers.
