Both together

Let us stand with fear of God, let us preserve the exercise of the virtues and let us not place any obstacle in the way of our conscience. Let us guard ourselves in fear of God until our conscience sets us free and then we can effect a union between it and ourselves. Then our conscience becomes our guard and shows us where we are erring. But if we are not obedient to it, it will leave us and abandon us. We will then fall into the hands of our enemies, who will never again leave us.
