They should stay away

Unrepentant sinners should stay away from the spotless sacraments because otherwise they’re just preparing judgment and a guilty verdict for themselves. Saint Paul says: ‘Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord… Those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves’ (1 Cor. 11, 27;29). In other words they’ll be punished as severely as those who crucified Christ, for they were also guilty of a crime against his body.
