When you say the Jesus prayer, you should think, at the beginning, that you’re in hell and shouting and weeping, begging for God’s mercy, though not at all afflicted with despair, hopelessness or anything of the kind. When you pray, don’t accept any fantasy, shape, not even an image of Our Lady, Christ or any saint. Don’t even see the words of the prayer in your mind.
