All about yourself

Love of the self- that is the irrational love for our body- eradicates loving-kindness. It reinforces and elevates greed. It fractures human nature itself, since each person becomes concerned with and involved in only themselves. Because of this love of the self, we become selfish in everything and think as consumers- we consume the world in order to satisfy our passions. We relate to people in a way that serves our personal interests and we transfer the same mercenary attitude to our relationship with God. Love of the self makes us want to have even the love of others directed exclusively towards ourselves.
