Saint Theophanes, Metropolitan of Peritheorion – Saint indirectly associated with the Monastery

St Theophanes lived in the 14th century. What we know about him is drawn from the Life of St Maximus of Kafsokalyvia, which he wrote. This contains the information that he served as Abbot of Vatopaidi and then became Metropolitan of Peritheorion (Xanthi) – which is all that we know of his life¹⁸.
