Chourmouzios Chartophylax (“the Archivist”) was a teacher of Byzantine Chant who had the greatest contribution in creating the 1814’s New Method of notation. We’re talking about a preeminent personality, with a huge role in the field of reinterpreting the early compositions of the old notational system into the Neo-Byzantine one of 1814. Chourmouzios Chartophylax also had a major contribution in the field of musical composition.
