Jonathan Jackson + Enation: ‘Basileia ton Ouranon’ (Kingdom of Heaven)

Pemptousia is exclusively releasing the compilation ‘Basileia ton Ouranon’ (Kingdom of Heaven) in Greece, featuring the best songs by Jonathan Jackson + Enation.

Jonathan Jackson is a well-known actor in Hollywood with five Emmy awards to his name for his leading role in the American daily serial General Hospital,. He is currently starring in the primetime serial Nashville.

Apart from acting, he is also involved with music. In his musical endeavors he has been the frontman for the group Enation since 2002 and since that time they have released 9 complete albums (LP and EP).

They began in Battle Ground, Washington, but are now based in Nashville, Tennessee. They work mainly within the rock scene (Euro, alternative, pop rock) and their most important musical influences are U2 and European pop rock in general.

While Jonathon Jackson writes both the lyrics and the music for the group as he himself says, he is involved particularly with the lyrical part of their songs. On Pascha (Easter) 2012 he was baptized Orthodox.

He himself has expressed his particular satisfaction with the release of the compilation ‘Basileia ton Ouranon’, exclusively in Greece, under the auspices of Pemptousia. In an interview he gave to Pemptousia in April 2015, he had this to say regarding his music:

‘Bob Dylan said that the highest form of song is prayer. And I believe that. And Bob Dylan and Bono and some of those artists also said that the best songs are not written by us. They’re discovered. They’ve already been written and we just discover them. So, we are dependent on God walking in the room, so to speak, in order to make something of real value. And the prayer for me is for the music and the lyrics to create an atmosphere for some kind of healing to take place, some kind of awakening, yearning. So it’s not written just for people that are Christians, it’s for anybody. And I want the music and the lyrics to speak to people no matter where they are.

The genre of the music that we’re playing is meant for the world and so, you know, we try to write lyrics that will draw people in but not preach to them, but inspire them, hopefully, and to guide them…to a place of goodness, of compassion and of love’.
