As the most lenient of judges and referees as regards our contests, Christ maintains the balance between us and our opponents. He steps in against the brutal onslaught of the enemy attacks and ‘as well as the trial’ gives us the strength to gain an outright victory. Without this divine help, the demons would certainly overwhelm us.
