People who surrender to their innate urges can’t have a rational soul, because a rational soul wants to act freely. And since it moves on its own, it also has free will. Whatever it does, it does out of choice, not out of necessity. So, because it’s intellectual, self-motivated and free, it has an awareness of what it is and of the quality of its actions.
