In our interest

Truly rational people have only one keen interest: to trust in the God of all and to please him. This alone is what they should train their soul to do, to please God, thanking him for his great providence and for the way he arranges everything that happens in our life. This is why it’s inappropriate to thank doctors for giving us bitter and unpleasant medication for the health of our bodies and yet to be ungrateful towards God for things which seem unpleasant and difficult. We should remember that everything happens as it should and is in our interest, in accordance with God’s providence. Knowledge of God’s will and faith in God is the salvation and perfection of the soul.
