It’s a reprimand

In the apostles, martyrs, hierarchs and all the saints we have examples of living faith, fervent love and subjection to the will of God. And we also have proof that, if we want, we can also please God, can save ourselves and draw other souls to him. The existence of the saints of the Church is a constant reminder of our lack of faith, our spiritual sloth, our lukewarm attitude and our unrepentance.
