Indolence

Indolence means paralysis of the soul, sloth and neglect for ascetic effort, and is the product of talkativeness. Indolence is death of the soul and involves all evils. It’s one of the eight primary passions of the soul and, is, in fact, the most serious. We combat indolence with the recollection of death, reading the psalms and, above all, through prayer.
