It’s the root cause

Don’t refuse to take oil and candles to light at a grave, while calling upon Christ. They’re acceptable to him and have great recompense. Oil and candles are a ‘whole burnt offering’. The divine and bloodless Liturgy is ‘propitiation’. Alms-giving is the root cause and increase of every good recompense on the part of God.
