According to Orthodox teaching, we’re perfected and sanctified by experiencing the hesychastic tradition and divine grace in the divine liturgy, the divine eucharist, with personal participation and ascetic effort in the spirit of true communion and unity. Performing good works doesn’t in itself lead to the desired goal.
