It’s not an easy matter

The enemy and the passions are forever introducing thoughts of pleasure into our minds. It takes great sobriety, vigilance of the mind, in order to spot and identify these thoughts which incite the passions. Our minds also have to be strong enough to rein in these thoughts. This is far from easy. The war against the passions is harsh. Safeguarding the mind is the most arduous effort that striving Christians can undertake.
